TVP Slices-Vegan Meat Alternative

TVP Textured Vegetable Protein is an excellent source of plant proteins. It’s great in stir fry, curry or used as an ingredient in your own version of plant-sourced hamburgers!
Soak half of the small bag (110-120grams) in about 2-3 cups boiling and lightly salted water for about 5 minutes or until soft (you may add 1/2 teaspoon turmeric to the water for a little flavour and colour.)
Drain and squeeze out excess water. Important step!

Season and sautée over medium heat until slightly brown and crispy.
Add to your favorite recipe!
You can also coat soaked chunks with seasoned bread crumbs and bake, air fry or deep fry them.
Made of pure Non-GMO soy protein.

TVP provides 2.5 to 3 times the protein of meat. Most meats are around 14-21% protein, but dry TVP is more than 52% protein.

I suppose a fair comparison would be with dehydrated beef such as jerky. Jerky has about 32% protein . But when you factor the price per kilogram of protein, meat is 3.5 times more costly. This doesn’t factor in the cost of animal farming to the environment.
